Online Clinical Supervisor Training
Online Clinical Supervisor Training (36 hours)
Cost: $950 + HST + the cost of the textbook
REQUIRED TEXTBOOK: Falender, Carol A. and Shafranske, Edward P (2004). Clinical Supervision: A Competency-Based Approach. USA: American Psychological Association
Overview of the program
“We would never dream of turning untrained therapists loose on needy patients, so why would we turn untrained supervisors loose on therapists who help those needy patients?” asks Watkins et. al.
In many industries, the need for quality supervision and oversight is in high demand, and this is especially true in the clinical setting. Students in this course are introduced to emerging supervisor methods, practices and metrics that guide the supervision pathway.
This 40-hour/16-week course examines the supervisory relationship, including evidence-based measures for evaluation, and common themes that emerge during clinical supervision. This course also explores competency-based clinical supervision, the creation of learning contexts, case management, teaching techniques, and theories of adult learning.
Suitable for aspiring supervisors, regardless of preferred modality of intervention, this 40-hour online course introduces emerging supervisors to the methods, practices, and metrics that guide the supervision pathway.
Students will require access to a live supervisee who is either a true supervisee, or a colleague who is willing to be a “test” subject. Additionally, students will require 4 recorded (audio or video) supervision encounters with the supervisee as part of the course assignments.
Program completion requires a live 1:1 online session with an experienced supervisor (provided by Adler’s team), with whom participants will evaluate and review their final recorded interview with their chosen supervisee(s).

Once payment is processed, students will receive a license key (within 2-5 business days) and can then begin their studies. Please note that all of our online courses have a set amount of time for you to complete your coursework. For our Clinical Supervisor Training course, the maximum allotted period is 16 weeks. Your window begins upon receipt of your license key, that is, upon receiving an email instructing you how to access your course. To ensure that you are given sufficient time to complete all of the material, please purchase your course no sooner than 2-5 business days prior to the date that you intend to begin studying, as this is how long it takes for the license key to be generated from the time you make your purchase. Your countdown will begin upon receipt of the license key, and not upon your using that key to access the course.
Course content is varied and made up of lectures, videos, demonstrations, supplemental readings, and professional/reflective exercises. There are no tests or exams; however, there are assignments for each module, which must be completed and then submitted online. The assignments in each module do not have to be completed in one sitting, but please note: you have a maximum of 16 weeks to complete your studies. We uphold a strict policy that we do not extend or re-open the software to you once your 16-week period of learning is up. Please plan accordingly: if you will be away, you must catch up on your work.
